MOTIVATION: Clary is motivated by the need to rescue her mother, but also, and almost more importantly, she is driven by a desire to understand who she is and where she comes from, as the knowledge was taken away from her.
ARRIVAL SCENARIO: The Artifact: Magnus gave Clary an ancient looking, beautiful ring, made of a silver band and a single, large obsidian-like gem. He told her it was enchanted to protect her from Valentine specifically, so Clary wore it without hesitation - Magnus is one of the only people she trusts in this world. But when she found herself observing it for too long...

HISTORY: Clary grew up in New York, a normal life with her mom and step-father, an overbearing, impossibly charming best friend, and a passion for art and drawing. It’s only on her 18th birthday that she discovers that she’s a lot more than a student that just got accepted into the Brooklyn Academy of Arts. That evening, she witnesses a battle only she can see, and she discovers that she’s, in fact, one of the Shadowhunters, a race of humans born with angelic blood.

Clary goes home, and when her mother tries to explain who Shadowhunters are, she is kidnapped - Clary only barely escapes through the help of Jace, one of the Shadowhunters she saw fight earlier. He brings her back to the New York Shadowhunters HQ, where she recuperates and meets Alec and Isabelle Lightwood, brother and sister and Jace’s companions in most things.

They, all together, explain to Clary what she stepped into, a completely new and different world to the one she previously knew. And with their help, she promises herself to find her mother, and learn of her legacy.

PERSONALITY: Clary is an outspoken, kind and loving, bubbly young woman. She’s dedicated, be it to her art or to her family and friends; extremely loyal, she is not the kind of person to leave anyone behind. It leads to difficult, sometimes bad choices that she finds herself making; her love for her best friend Simon leads her to revive him as a vampire instead of letting him die - her love for her mother pushes her into trap after trap put in place by Valentine to get a hold of her.

She is stubborn, and refuses to back down in the face of danger, always wanting to be at the very front of it or at least, backing up her friends. Sometimes, it looks like she’s not afraid of death, but that would be a lie; she’s just young, and hot-headed. But it also means that she’s brave, and her loyalty and trust, once she places them in someone, have no bounds or limits. She is a ‘leave no one behind’ type of girl.

She’s confrontational, but not for no reason; her stubbornness often means that even if she ends up backing down, she’ll be making plans in her head to go her own way if she really believes it’s the best thing to do. However, she can be talked down, or reasoned with; she is able to recognize when a plan is better than her own. That’ll take a lot of work from the other party, though.

Through it all, she can be very oblivious to the world around her; she doesn’t realize Simon’s feelings for her, for example, even though she can see Maureen’s feelings for him. She’s also at times self-sacrificing, and likes to think she can do things on her own, which gets her into trouble more often than not. She dislikes depending on anyone - because she tends to shoulder a lot of blame for other people’s problems.

Overall, she is fiercely loyal, family oriented, courageous, curious and stubborn. An optimist at heart, she likes to think the best of people from the start, and believes that most evil can be turned around.

SKILLS / POWERS:
Nephilim physiology: enhanced strength, speed, agility, stamina, and coordination due to the angelic blood coursing through her veins. It’s not at its full potential, however, since she just started her training as a Shadowhunter.
Sight: Clary can see through most glamours and magical illusions. Again, she needs to be prompted most of the time, as she is not yet fully trained.
Runic Magic: by being a Shadowhunter, Clary is able to draw runes on her own skin using a stele. These runes, when activated, provide her with different additional powers (it can be an invisibility rune, a healing rune, a glamour rune, etc).
Sword Mastery: she is growing her skill as a swordmaster, training with Jace, and can use a seraph blade
NERFING: Happy for her to be nerfed; she behaves like a normal human most of the time anyway!

INVENTORY: Her wallet (credit cards, family portrait, a picture of herself and Simon, travel pass, gym pass), the necklace her mother gave her (it has powers on Earth but would be powerless on Pelea), black tank top, black jeans, black boots, black leather jacket, her stele.
